Convenient train trip to Sydney CBD. Good public & private schools! Big supermarkets (IGA, Coles, Woolworths...). Very leafy & green suburb.

"Convenient living - many apartments close the train station."
Only 1 train stop to Lidcombe - so very convenient transport to the CBD - you can either go to Lidcombe for a range of restaurants (Korean, etc...) or you can catch the train to Bankstown for grocery shopping too. Close proximity to the city. The apartments along the train station is a good option for students & professionals too. Highly recommended.

"Fitness center & cafes, Woolworths & Coles at your doorsteps!"
I am a resident but only until recently I have discovered that the Revesby Workers Club has a fitness center that is very comparable to Fitness First but the pricing options are more affordable! The suburb seems to improve a lot since I first moved in, with the brand new Coles & cafes giving residents more options. Shop at Coles when it rains as it has basement parking. Train is very good as well, no delays or whatsoever, which I believe will help office workers and parents be at work on time (especially in a big city like Sydney where transport is a problem). I also enjoy the afternoon walks around the suburbs next to Revesby - Panania / Padstow / East Hills.

"Little happy convienent & family-friendly suburb! Plus a new train station with lifts coming soon!"
The morning/afternoon/peak times (through Sydenham) Train only takes about 25 minutes to Sydney CBD. Government will upgrade the Panania station- there will be lifts and I cannot be any happier. It's a very working parents-friendly suburb. From the perspective of a person who had bought in the suburb, I am so in love with Panania. Close proximity to the major shopping centres & schools, but without the noise of crowded places and especially without the hefty price tag. After many years living here, I can say that the areas is safe as well. I am so impressed that Panania and Revesby got mentioned in Daily Telegraph as a place for young families!

Hi Angela, to be honest, I have never had problems walking outside when it's dark here in the north side of the station. I usually see people walking with/without their dogs at night too, especially during weekends. I never saw druggies or sth like that so far - for the last 5 years. Of course I think common sense is not to stay out when it's too dark/late (I've read a news story about a woman got raped in an inner city/inner west suburb). The suburb got its own value and my neighbours seem to be nice and welcoming. Sometimes people on the streets say hello and smile to you even though we're just strangers. And if you do a research, some houses got sold lately in the suburb at 1.7 mil$ lately...which is a good indicator. I think when everything goes up, there will be not much difference between north or south anymore.
"Used to be a nice place, not anymore!"
Burwood is convenient as it has lots of good shopping options, and a good train line, but it will soon become another crowded place with high crime rate, an expensive Parramatta indeed. Quick to get anywhere but not safe if you want to buy a house, start a family and bring up your kids. Last weekend, we went to Westfield Burwood to watch a movie. A man with his kid refused to move while they occupied our seats, and we finally had to ask a security guard to ask them to move in the most polite way possible. However, our date was ruined as we were sitting next to another man who we thought did not take a bath for 10 days, kept eating, scratching and snoring at times. Maybe there are only a few but my good impression for Burwood has lost forever and I will not come back as it is not as good as it used to be, even though this was a favourite place. In the last few years, suburbs like Burwood and Strathfield have changed dramatically, in a bad way. Places like Burwood and Strathfield are good for eating out and having fun, but when it comes to bring up a family, I will definitely say no at such high property prices, unfriendly & unsafe environment, but the quality and the community sense is no better than other cheaper places further in the west, as 50% of the properties are rented! Like Parramatta, Burwood has lots of shops and restaurants, but noisy, overcrowded and overpriced. Too many people renting in Burwood makes this place a place to rent/transit and not to live. But if you are coming from overseas and start afresh, this maybe a good temporary choice before you can find somewhere else to live. Very multicultural place with a lot of Indian / Lebanese / Mainland Chinese community which is a good thing about Burwood.

Sounds like some real first world problems.
Hi there! I am looking at moving in Panania north side of the station on marco avenue. I have read so many bad comments on the internet about druggies and break ins in the north side of the station and im am freaking out right now. Please tell me things have changed and it is better now? Is it safe to go for a walk at night after dinner?
