Do you really feel not safe walking around West Hollywood at night?

I don't do much walking around at night in West Hollywood, but I can understand why someone might feel a little unsafe there given that the crime rate is consistently higher than the national average year after year. I guess if I were in a group on the main drags I wouldn't feel unsafe but if I lived there and regularly took my dog for a walk I might be a little leary.
